Loretta
Loretta

Update: 6/12/08

Loretta is a beautiful, dark brindle female thought to be between 4 and 5 years old. Loretta was captured by the North Texas Humane Society as a stray, and it is obvious she has not been cared for. She is positive to 4 different intestinal parasites, as well as she is heartworm positive. She is under the care of Dr. Jeff Ellis of VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital. Because of her huge parasite load, Dr. Ellis wants to wait a little while to start her heartworm treatment. It is not known at this time if Loretta is cat or small animal tolerant.

The special medical treatment cost needed by Loretta is why the Miss Mesa Fund was established. If you would like to help with Loretta's care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You can use a credit card, check or PayPal by making the donation through the GALT GreytStore. You can also write a check (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, P.O. Box 680, Addison, TX 75001) and note Miss Mesa Fund/Loretta on your check.

Alternately, you can make a donation using PayPal by clicking on the
button below. (The PayPal screen should appear in a new browser window;
to return to GALT, close the PayPal window when you're finished making
your donation.)

Update 6/12/08
Loretta received her second and third heartworm treatments on June 10 and June 11. She tolerated the injections okay, and is now back with her foster family. She is being closely monitored and kept very quiet. It will be 60 days before she will be tested to see if these treatments have been successful.

Update 5/7/08
Loretta received her first injection for heartworm treatment on May 7, and so far is tolerating the procedure. She is being kept very quiet in her foster home, and will be kept so for the next 30 days. At that time she will return for two more injections of Immiticide.
