North Texas Irish Festival

March 2 & 3, 2002

GALT is very proud to have participated in the 20th annual North Texas Irish Festival March 2nd and 3rd, 2002. There was ample Irish music and greyhounds galore! This unpredictable Dallas weather brought a last-season cold snap with icy roads and cold winds which our dedicated volunteers braved to show off the GALT greyhounds. Almost all of the activities were inside Fair Park's Automobile and Centennial Buildings or in heated tents, so once we all arrived, there was fun, food, and music for everyone to enjoy very comfortably.

Although GALT's Irish Greyhound, Thicket Seskin, was not able to attend in person, pictures told the story of her Irish roots.

GALT sincerely appreciates and thanks the following true-blue volunteers for their extra effort in making this event a roaring success:

Audrey & Phil Butler
Shelley & Wesley Caskey
Suzanne Griggs
Michelle Scarlett
Carol Sahlfeld
Heather & Mark Clark
Michelle & Doug Hamilton
Nancy Colwell

Joyce & Stephan England
Carol & Tom Pulley
Mary & Joe Hoiles
Denise Allen
Kathleen & Brian Moake
Susie & John McQuade
Susan Dunten
Jhon & Eddie Estrada

Stephanie & Ken Lamoreaux
Jenny Garrett
Jessica Sweetland
Colleen Holden
Diana Williams
Nena Jones
Shelly Werth

GALT had a drawing each day for the "Volunteer of the Day" and Saturday, Mary Hoiles won a $25 gift certificate donated by Arcodora/Pomodoro Restaurant and Bar along with an Irish Cookbook, and Sunday, Stephan England won a $30 gift certificate donated by Black Horse Jewelry.

The Dallas STARS Hockey Club (www.dallasstars.com) donated an autographed hat from the 2001/2002 team which was used for a raffle, raising $180.......the winner of the raffle was Joyce England! GALT sincerely appreciates the STARS continued support of the greyhounds.

A special "Thank you" goes to Carmon Deyo and Mike Dibble of Black Horse Design (www.black-horse-design.com) for donating not only the $30 gift certificate for Sunday's Volunteer of the Day, but also a portion of their total Sunday sales went to the GALT Greyhounds. We deeply appreciate their generosity and support.

It was a wonderful venue for GALT, so mark your calendars now for the first weekend in March, 2003 for the 21st North Texas Irish Festival! We'll be there!
