Diablo, aka DLT Diablo is a 2½-year-old red fawn male born August 5, 2008. His sire is Dodgem By Design, making his grand sire the late famous Gable Dodge, and his dam is Tom Cat Olina. His racing career consists of 13 races, starting May 7, 2010 at Gulf Greyhound Park in La Marque, TX, and abruptly ending on October 9, 2010 with a severe compound fracture of his right hock and ankle area. Diablo, a real favorite at his racing kennel, was transferred to Dr. Jeff Ellis of VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital who referred him to Dr. Bob Radasch of the Dallas Veterinary Surgery Center.

Surgery was performed on October 19, with his calcaneous being stabilized with a six hole 2.7mm bone plate with six screws. Two lag screws were also placed at the base of the calcanceous slab fracture with two more 2.7 mm lag screws were used to stabilize the central tarsal bone fracture. Additionally the dorsal slab fracture of the third tarsal bone was stabilized using a single 2.0mm lag screw. Diablo's cast was removed on December 22, 2010, with x-rays showing the fractured areas to be mended. Pictures of Diablo during his recovery can be seen here. Dr. Radasch states the screws and plate may have to be removed at a later date, if irritation occurs. He has now completed all his medical procedures, and this gorgeous boy is ready to find his forever home!

Diablo is a beautiful red fawn with expressive eyes and a sweet loving disposition. He is extremely playful and loves to give kisses. He has excellent house manners, with no accidents.

He crates beautifully; in fact he loves to nap in the crate with the gate open. He is crated about 10 hours every day and sleeps in the bedroom on the floor at the foot of my bed at night. He usually sleeps through the night, but occasionally will need to go out. He is a very good eater and loves his treats and kong. He loves to cockroach and will sleep that way on his back for long periods of time.

He is still a little uncertain of new surroundings and noises. If we are out walking, sometimes a noise will have him wanting to head back inside. If someone approaches and wants to pet him, he will tolerate it but faces away from the person. He would of course do very well with a canine friend, especially an outgoing one. He gets along well with small dogs but seems a little intimidated by large dogs during our walks. We have not encountered cats yet so that is still a question mark.

He is extremely playful and loves his squeaky toys. While he plays rough with them, he has yet to destroy one. He will toss a toy in the air, and when it lands a little away from him, he will look at it with an inquisitive look like he's waiting for it to come back to him on its own.

Diablo is a very sweet boy who will make an excellent companion for a lucky owner.
