FOUR SOS GALGOS COMING TO GALT
Edu, Ricardo, Rayas and Puppy “Galguito” Pluto!

Because of the latest Hurricane in Florida, the arrival date of the Galgos is postponed to Thursday, October 27.

We proudly welcome four SOS Galgos boys into GALT’s Texas family of greyhounds! GALT friends, Leslie and Wayne, are traveling in Europe for a month, and generously offered to bring two galgos each back with them from Madrid. Anna Clements and Albert Sorde’, DVM, the founders of SOS Galgos and dear friends of GALT, have assisted in this quest!

Edu

Edu is an approximately 2-year-old handsome red galgo with gold eyes. Rayas is the same age and is a striking dark brindle. Edu and Rayas were found together as strays on the streets of Madrid. Both boys have been lovingly fostered by a couple with 16 other greyhounds!

Rayas

Pluto
Pluto is approximately 6 months old. Anna wrote this about Galguito Pluto:

This is a galgo that last week (August 27, 2005) was thrown out of a car at a gas station. An anxious woman rang me telling me that she'd witnessed this and could we help her. This was in Madrid and two of our best volunteers and foster people, 69-year-old Carmen Urbano and a nearby neighbor-become-friend, went together to pick him up at the municipal pound where the police had taken him from the gas station.

Carmen and Maria José immediately took him to the vets because of the painful fracture he had on one leg, and he was operated on there and then by a traumatologist, and they picked him up at midnight that very night (what a day it was for them!). He's in foster care now with Carmen and plays and acts like a normal puppy. His pins will be taken out by the same vet in a month's time and he will be ready for adoption. Puppies are really difficult for us to place because we place them mostly within families who live in apartments.

Of course GALT is taking Pluto!

The fourth boy is Ricardo, a one-year-old handsome black boy, also found as a stray. Ricardo gets along well with other dogs. A volunteer with SOS Galgos was walking Ricardo one afternoon when she was confronted by a gypsy who claimed Ricardo was his galgo, and he wanted Ricardo back! Of course the volunteer refused, and it has been a tense time, as the gypsy said he would come “in the dead of night” and steal him – Anna says it has been quite a dramatic encounter!
