Ginger Spice

Ginger Spice, aka C’s Real Red, is a beautiful 6½-year-old light fawn female, born November 19, 2000. Her sire is SKE’s Dixiesaint and her dam is Midland Shandice, and she is sister to Posh Spice, Baby Spice, and Sporty Spice. Ginger arrived with her sisters from a brood farm that was going out of business. Ginger Spice never had puppies. Her racing days started December 31, 2002, at Tri State, located at Cross Lanes, WV, and ended December 11, 2004, at the Birmingham track in Alabama.

Ginger had some interest in the cat, but not too much. Her ears went up and she sniffed Molly a couple of times. Ginger's interest pretty much went away after Molly hissed at her. She is cat trainable, but always remember to keep an eye on your Greyhound with small animals. Ginger also appears to be able to live well in a home with small dogs.

Ginger Spice

Ginger Spice is a very sweet and loving girl. Ginger looks like a regal lady with her narrow build and a small, fine head and muzzle. She loves giving little butterfly kisses when you are petting her. She is very affectionate and loves to be close to her people. Ginger loves to be hugged and petted. She is a very smart little girl and learns very quickly.

Ginger is not very interested in food and eats a little slower than the other greys in our house. But she eats her meals and does not make any mess. Ginger has a very happy, calm personality and she likes to be close to people, curling up or 'roaching' on a dog bed. She will follow you from room to room just to be close. She gets along with the other dogs at our house and pretty much ignores the cats. When you talk to her or pet her, her tail goes round and round like a helicopter. Ginger will come running when you call her. She does not counter surf or get into anything. She knows to go outside to go potty and is just an all-around dream to have in the house. She seems to like her crate and will go in sometimes just to rest and take a nap. She runs into it and lays down when she knows we are leaving the house. What a good girl.

Ginger walks well on a leash. She likes to play with stuffed toys and empties the toy box daily. She tosses the toys in the air and chases them. It only takes a "No!" to get her to stop doing something that she should not be doing, which is very seldom. When she first came into the house she growled at the other greyhounds in residence, but a firm "No!" and a squirt with the water bottle stopped that.

She has very good house manners and wants to please. At night she sleeps quietly on a dog bed in the bedroom with her foster brothers and sister.

Ginger is enjoying retirement, loving those soft dog beds, and would love to have her own special forever home and family to love her. I think she would be okay having a fur-brother or sister, but would also be okay as an only dog. Ginger will need her family to be her leader, and set boundaries for her and make sure she knows that she is NOT in charge or she may take over in typical brood-mamma fashion and set her own boundaries.

If you're looking for a very sweet, smart, very well-behaved little girl, Ginger might be just the sweetie for you.
