Stewart is an 8-year-old brindle male born in April 2004. He arrived from the same source as Stetson, Onyx, Blade, Cupcake, Timex and Carbon, Harry, Charity and Clooney. Unfortunately Stewart, like the nine others, is also heartworm positive, and he is carrying a heavy load of intestinal parasites. Treatment for Stewart will have to wait until a foster home is available. Results from the tick panel performed by Protatek are pending at this time. Stewart is tattooed; however his tattoos are being researched.
Stewart is not cat tolerant.
Stewart's tick testing came back negative to Babesia canis, Ehrlichia canis, Lyme but a very very low positive titer to Rocky Mountain Spotted fever for which he is being treated. His first heartworm treatment was performed on March 22. He has been kept quiet in his foster home, and his second round of treatment is scheduled for April 23.
Stewart received his second round of heartworm treatment on April 23, 2012. He is being kept very quiet in his foster home.
Stewart is still testing positive to heartworms, so we will wait another 30 days and recheck him again.
Stewart is still testing heartworm positive. His foster home is keeping him very quiet until he is rechecked again in 30 days. It has been a long haul for him since his first treatment.
Stewart finally tested heartworm negative. However, he is also now in congestive heart failure. He is being treated with medications and will be kept as comfortable as possible in his foster home.
Stewart has left us for the Rainbow Bridge.
