Summer, aka MCP's Summer, is a beautiful 4-year-old red fawn female, born October 3, 2000. Summer’s sire is My Broadway Joe and her dam is MCP’s Petrie. Her racing career started in Orange Park, FL on May 26, 2002, proceeding to Jacksonville, FL, and finally finishing on August 24, 2004 in Southland in West Memphis, AR. Summer is positive to two of the tickborne diseases, Ehrlichia and Babesia, and she is receiving treatment at this time. It is not known if Summer is small animal or cat tolerant.

From Summer's Foster Mom:

Summer has a vivacious personality and loves to express herself. Summer shares a home with two other greyhounds and an older labrador retriever, which is fine, but not necessary in her mind. She figures, less dogs to share love with, the more for her. She is energetic for a 4 year old and loves to play with squeaky toys (furry or not). In a very short time she has learned to lay "down" for a treat and for her squeaky toy. She plays at retrieving her toys until she tires of the game. She is very inquisitive and sticks to me like glue. She really looks forward to her walks in the neighborhood so she can visit with all the kids and other big dogs.

Summer is quite talkative during play, for treats and just when she wants to be exceptionally cute. Her favorite position is on her back, known as the "greyhound cockroach," preferably when she can lay her head in your lap for those convenient pets and lovin'. Summer loves everyone she meets (humans big and small and larger dogs); however, we do not know if she is small animal tolerant.

Update 3/30/05 from Summer's Foster mom:
Summer continues to expand her understanding of "being a loved companion". She thrives on love and attention and doesn't let me go anywhere without her, but what a sweetheart. She enjoys being brushed (especially now that she has hair covering her backside) and doesn't mind getting her nails trimmed while she is napping.

Update 2/3/05
Summer has another week of her prescribed medication, and she will be retested March 1. At that time, it is very hopeful her titers will have decreased for both the Ehrlichia and Babesia.
