Aubusson is a style of tapestry weave (a flat weave) which originated over 300 years ago in the small town of Aubusson, France. Originally, large rugs and wall tapestries were made using this technique and, because it is so labor intensive, only the very wealthy could afford it. As a result Aubusson has a reputation of being a very expensive luxury item and has a high perceived value amongst knowledgeable customers.
